Planned Maintenance Program
CONGER TOYOTALIFT, INC. PLANNED MAINTENANCE PLUS PROGRAM
Here is an account of some of the key factors in our Planned Maintenance Plus program:
A. Conger Toyotalift employs technicians that are A.S.E. certified. We feel this is important to acknowledge so you, the customer, will feel at ease having them work on your equipment. The A.S.E. association requires constant testing and updating of technician’s certifications, so they are aware of any new changes and are as efficient as possible.
B. There is one primary and one secondary technician assigned to each individual account. In doing this, there is a familiarity with the truck’s present use and any past problems. This also allows the ability to make recommendations on repairs to lower operating costs. There may be times however, that a secondary technician will provide the service unless the customer prefers only the primary technician.
C. Our Planned Maintenance Plus (PMP) service and fleet maintenance is designed to lower the operating costs of your forklift trucks by reducing the frequency of breakdowns and downtime. Most customer objectives include reducing their overall maintenance costs. This can be judged by overall year-end costs and costs per operating hours on each truck as well as the whole fleet. We do not perform “flat-rate” PM service, because we feel it does not allow you, the customer, to experience the savings potential of allowing our technicians to fully utilize the skills they’ve developed through training and experience to reduce your breakdowns, as well as your costs. The application of their developed skills enables the technicians to often catch problems before the unit breaks down, and also to detect any problems that could lead to greater damage if not halted immediately. As you will see, the end results are not just overall cost reduction of truck repairs and work stoppages, but also include emission control, fuel savings, and a better running fleet.
For optimum performance and reduction in wear, we recommend that PM services be done every 200-250 hours, unless the working environment requires a maintenance assessment on a more frequent basis. Lubrication breakdown (greases & oils) also typically occurs at this point, therefore causing more rapid wear on the equipment.
Obviously, we do more on a PM service than just change oil and complete an inspection sheet. We inspect the unit for problems and breakdowns in progress in an effort to reduce the frequency of our coming back for further repairs. Our technicians go through additional training every month on many issues, as well as any problems we feel would be beneficial to review.
Under “flat-rate” inspection, competitors “flat-rate” amounts may be assigned anywhere from $30.00 to $65.00 per visit, plus any additional work performed. Any additional work deemed necessary may be performed at the time of original service if the technician is qualified. However, in some instances, the required maintenance may be deferred for a return visit at an additional cost, and/or may be performed by a different technician, further increasing costs. The term “flat-rate” is actually a misnomer, in that it does not reflect the true cost of the service and tends to make the customer feel he or she is paying only a relatively small flat fee, but in reality, it is only the start-up cost of the work order.
Our scheduled PMP service and repairs average 1 ½ to 2 hours per unit, depending on the make and model. With our labor rate currently at $72.00 per hour, your investment on a PMP service would run approximately $100 to $150, not including parts of lubricants needed.
D. Due to Conger Toyotalift’s reputable service record, we have technicians that are able to work on any type of equipment you may have. Parts & Service manuals are also available for reference if needed. Our Service Manager and Shop Foreman each have 26 years of knowledge and practical experience in the field; a strong benefit to our technicians as well as our customers.
E. Parts are available for all makes, years, and models, including all Skid Steers, Waldens, Sellick All Terrains, and Power Walkies, as well as any other manufacturer. We are able to cross-reference many parts with an on-line program to better service the needs of our customers. Conger Toyotalift has multiple resources available to retain these parts on a timely basis.
F. Our computer system keeps track of any PM services and repairs done on each piece of equipment. This allows us to keep a history of parts installed on the equipment, as well as the costs and reasons for each repair performed on the unit. With this information, we can generate a report, which will help to understand and manage your fleet management costs. This is usually run on a quarterly basis, although can be run for any specified time period.
G. Conger Toyotalift, Inc. has a Full Scale Tire Department. Tires are available for all makes and sizes needed. Our tire department will perform a survey to help decide the tires to best suit the application being used and/or special needs to the customer. The surveys also allow our personnel to lessen down time. Conger Toyotalift has a large in-house tire inventory, as well as 2 mobile tire press trucks to provide better customer service.
H. If any rental equipment would be needed, our late model rental fleet would help you to stay on your company’s current production schedule. Our rental fleet includes many makes and models that would suit your company’s needs.
